Raising Money

The problems most schools and organizations have in common is a lack of money to do the things they want and need to do.  To help you raise the money you need we have several programs for you to consider
  • Stage a Run Drugs Out of Town Run
  • Stage a Relay4Us
  • Stage a Run Drugs Out of Town Run as a relay at your school
  • Join us in the Alumni Project

QUARTERS:  Since the younger kids will be running in the quarter-mile run and our objective is to actively involve them with this issue we recommend having them collect quarters to pay their entry fee.  They can save from their allowance, chores or collect them from family and friends.  Each extra quarter will earn them a raffle ticket.  Or you may be able to make arrangements with a local theater, toy store or other supporter to give a small gift to children who collect more.  Imagine the effect of a child telling everyone they meet that they want to run drugs out of town.

LOCAL SPONSORS:  One thing that will help to make your event a true success is to involve as many members of the community as possible.  One way to do this is to ask every business, doctor, laywer and neighbor to sponsor a runner.  You set the enrty fee (our fee is $10/runner and you can make your fee $12.50 or $15 or whatever you choose).  Most small businesses and professionals can't afford to give a lot of money even to causes they believe in.  Many will not even want to give you $12.50 but you will be amazed at how many will.

This program was started by a chiropractor and since chiropractic is the largest drug free healing profession that would be a great place to start.  Ask local chiropractors to sponsor their patients (we will help you in contacting them).   You can also ask your dentist, pediatrician, accountant or anyone else.  Lets face it they would rather not see kids doing drugs.

CORPORATE SPONSORS:Businesses want to support the community and when they can afford to they will contribute to a worth while effort.  When you approach businesses for sponsorship, how much money you can expect depends upon the size of your event.  Generally, you can expect between $100 and $1,000.  More for a larger community wide event and less if you event is just for your school.  For that price your sponsors will find their logo on the back of your T-shirts.

You can also provide them with a Drug Free Workplace Kit to present to businesses.  This package gives a business all the information it will need to set up its own prevention program.  Not only will it help you in your fundraising efforts but it can help save a business lots of money and will impress upon them the importance of this issue.  It is available online or one can be sent to them by ordering Making Your Workplace Drug Free: A Kit for Employers, item # WORKIT from:
